I don’t know much about World Economic Forum but this seems like a strange post from them back in late 2016 - https://x.com/wef/status/809424034169581568
There is a Wikipedia page about this her essay. You'll own nothing and be happy - Wikipedia
Though I find it strange that she mentioned privacy as she seems to speak mostly about private property and the sharing economy.
I mean these are strongly related concepts. If you do not own a car and you’re taking Waymos and Ubers everywhere, that is a privacy risk. Whenever you rent something or use a service from a third-party there will always be an exchange of data every single time you use the thing, whether it’s payment info or something else.
Ownership of your data is by far the strongest move most people can make towards improving their privacy. In the digital world this is why there needs to be a renewed emphasis on decentralization and self-hosting, and in the physical world, yes, it is an important goal to own private property, whether that be transportation or housing, etc.
