Hi! I’m wondering is there a way to check twitter and follow people and see the feed without having to use the twitter app or a twitter log in? Like in a more private and secure way?

Afaik there’s no way to see the timeline and follow people. You can see individual threads and browse account profiles with nitter: Instances · zedeus/nitter Wiki · GitHub
It looks like this is a planned feature for the future though:
In the future a simple account system will be added that lets you follow Twitter users, allowing you to have a clean chronological timeline without needing a Twitter account.
Theoretically for now you can recreate the experience of a twitter timeline by creating an RSS feed with the nitter RSS links of each twitter account you’d like to follow. Never tried it but it might be worth a shot

I use Xcancel. It has an anti-bot feature that isn’t too annoying.
xcancel is just someone’s nitter instance lol
