I viewed some Twitter profiles on a Nitter instance. Except that once I forgot to go with my VPN (on phone). So they can make the link between my real IP and all my other searches (since I think I’m the only one to have searched for this profile, low pool of users). (The administrators of this Nitter instance, or anyone if the database is leak)
Is it likely that this Nitter instance keeps a log of all the searches and their IPs (xcancel for information)? We can’t really know, can we? And in this case, using frontends drastically reduces our privacy no?
i’d still consider it half dead since it doesn’t use guest accounts anymore, but “real” ones which there’s much less of so there’s way more rate limits. and you basically can’t do anything besides view profiles without getting the rate limit message, and even then you have to refresh a few times
