Nitter instance' Privacy policy

Hello

I viewed some Twitter profiles on a Nitter instance. Except that once I forgot to go with my VPN (on phone). So they can make the link between my real IP and all my other searches (since I think I’m the only one to have searched for this profile, low pool of users). (The administrators of this Nitter instance, or anyone if the database is leak)

Is it likely that this Nitter instance keeps a log of all the searches and their IPs (xcancel for information)? We can’t really know, can we? And in this case, using frontends drastically reduces our privacy no?

Any server you connext to has to log you IP in order to work so yes. That is how internet works.

The question if they do something with that is not, we cannot answer. Only the admin of that instance can and you have to believe their word on it.

Personally i wouldnt worry too much about this. There isnt anything yoh can do about it really.

Isn’t Nitter dead ? I only know one instance that is working

people say this but there are still instances that work fine. Instances · zedeus/nitter Wiki · GitHub

i’d still consider it half dead since it doesn’t use guest accounts anymore, but “real” ones which there’s much less of so there’s way more rate limits. and you basically can’t do anything besides view profiles without getting the rate limit message, and even then you have to refresh a few times

Some instances listed there are not working because the rate limit is crazy, but poats is working
