Selling Merchandise on PrivacyGuides

With the new team members I see, I’m wondering if PG has resources to start an online store for selling merchandise. I’m really wanting stickers to spread the word, but there are other things to slap brand logos on. Wondering if the team has thought of this, or if there is any interest in it.

they do have Merch:

Tbh I can see why you think it didnt exist, it’s not exactly anywhere to be found outside of the articles section.
@jonah could this be addressed? ^, If it’s possible

Hmmmm, I guess I was browsing the main site and didn’t find an easy link to it.

bingo

I’ll mark this as the solution, but yes it’s not immediately discoverable. As a means to boost revenue for a non profit, this should definitely be more visible.

Hats, keychains, stickers, and mugs are better to buy as they don’t really have sizing requirements. Its the only thinking holding me back from shoppin it.

I agree. Mugs are a great talking point for me to bring to the office. Need to compliment my Vim mug I have!

Do you all think that there is a demand for this?

Considering how many Anime Mugs I bought, err likely??
I do agree with others it makes for a complimentary talk, and who knows, maybe even succeeding more in getting friends and family into privacy.

I’d say I want stickers the most, but I cant say about the rest.

Well, clothing is always a hit or miss as it is size dependent. Other merchandise otherwise always works. So yes, there is a demand for this.

You can add reusable cloth grocery tote bags and bottle openers to the list as well.

Potential is endless with selling branded glassware (beer glasses mostly) and other household novelties.

Question: Who bears the financial risks associated with selling Privacy Guides merchandise online—such as shipping losses, unsold inventory, payment defaults, etc.? If I understand their statements correctly, in the case of Hellotux, they assume these risks.

In general, I believe offering merchandise is reasonable only if it’s profitable for Privacy Guides and supports long-term site development. Although I lack detailed insights, as long as it doesn’t generate losses, I have no objections. It wouldn’t be sensible if Privacy Guides lacked resources elsewhere as a consequence.

I think to me the logo itself isn’t recognizable enough to pull its own weight. If a sticker also says privacy guides, or has some branding to target the current privacy climate to raise awareness, that would be good to me. Not to be too political in the is thread, but stickers targeted towards women’s health, LGTBQ, journalism, data breaches, or whatever topic + privacy implications around it would be interesting to stick around for people to see and force them to think about.

Just of note, there are multiple sizes available.

Yes, I am aware. My comment still stands.

Only said what said from my experience buying merch clothing - it’s seldom worth it.

The loses are indeed assumed by hellotux.

We only make a few dollar per shirt sold, but we do not have a lot of choice. When you narrow your partners down to the ones who sell world wide with support, selling high quality items (embroidery vs printed) without using trackers on there website, you will not have a lot of choices.

That said, I am very happy with the clothes that i have bought from Hellotux so far.
