What do you guys use to listen to music (local library) and podcasts? Turns out Apple Music and Podcast are pretty solid, but I am trying to slowly escape the walled garden. For macOS and/or Linux.
I love the PocketCasts app for podcasts. Fantastic feature set and functionality plus they have open sourced their apps. It’s far better than any other podcast app if you ask me.
I was lucky enough to have bought it years ago so I was grandfathered into their lifelong plan when they introduced a subscription for all their premium features. But it’s worth it if you ask me if you use or listen to podcasts enough.

And there is a web version of the app too so it can literally be used on any platform with a browser. There’s no Linux app so this helps there.
I use Strawberry Music Player for my local library (its a fork of the old Clementine Music Player).
The dev releases all the Linux binaries free on Github but requires a “donation” for Windows and MacOS versions (everyone has to get their nut somehow). It is easy enough to clone the repo and build it yourself though if you don’t want to pay.
AntennaPod for podcasts.
Apple Music to find new musics.
Grayjay for YT playlists.
Funkwhale for personal cloud music in general.
Metro for the Android local music app but looking to try Lotus.
Lollypop for local music player on Linux.
