Multiple free Proton or Tuta emails

According to Proton & Tuta TOS, you can create only one free account but you can create unlimited paid accounts.

My question is : can you create multiple paid email accounts, pay only one month, then keep those emails without violating their TOS?

You should email proton (and tuta) support. Everyone here can only speculate.

This question really is for Proton to answer. We can’t say anything conclusively.

The problem is that if i contact either proton or tuta, they will probably lie and push me towards keeping multiple consistent subscription paid plans

Why continue to speculate. Just ask and see what they say. You’ll get a clearer answer and then you can decide the most ethical manner in which to continue.. or not.

As others have said it is best to ask Proton or Tuta for the answer but, on its face it sounds like trying to circumvent the TOS which would obviously be frowned upon. The end result is still multiple free email accounts, which is against TOS. From my experience Proton, not sure about Tuta, does not enforce this rule unless you create an abnormal amount of emails for an individual.

Part of paid Proton mail is aliases and access to SimpleLogin, you really dont have to use multiple Proton Accounts.

Sounds like an XY problem, what are you trying to achieve?

I think people are reading too much into my question.

I simply want to create multiple emails (not that many) to separate my workflow like personal, work, etc.

I know there is email aliasing but it still needs core emails and from my research people have more than one core email as a strategy.

Also, im not a fan of subscriptions and dont need the extra functionality that comes with paid plans.

I dont want to create multiple accounts for free and then find out later that they will suddenly be deleted coz some other users had luck retaining multiple ones for a while.

I already am contacting them now so lets see what happens.

When you buy Proton Mail Plus/Unlimited, Proton gives you multiple email addresses to make (not aliases, real email. Though you can make aliases with SL or Proton Pass but that’s different). You also get custom domains with it.

So, you really may not need to create multiple email addresses/Proton accounts.

Stop complaining and just pay for your usage…

I believe around Black Friday or Christmas there’s usually an offer to do a buy-once lifetime plan for ProtonPass specifically, which includes SimpleLogin and the ability to create unlimited hide-my-email aliases.

You could also manage labels so that each received email goes into its own folder (work, personal, etc). Perfect if you pair it with aliasing.
And otherwise, companies work on a freemium model where 5% of the paid customers pay for the 95% of free users. There is meanwhile a limit to the amount of free-loading that they do allow, hence why not happy if you have X free accounts.

Your effort will definitely pay off.

Both Proton and Tuta have multiple email addresses with their lowest paid plan. 10 for each service if I’m not mistaken. These are not aliases.

Is it the sharing of PII that typicaly comes with a subscription you don’t like? Proxystore is an option if this is the case Digital Goods by ProxyStore You can buy a voucher for many services with cash or crypto.

I think that this is the biggest concern/solution that OP needs. :hugs:

I think OP wants to know what would happen to those “multiple email addresses” if they decide not to continue subscribing. But yes, I agree with everyone here that they should contact Proton.

I was under the impression that OP is willing to pay for one, not many. That’s why I said what I said. But this is a non issue. Should pay for what you want to use.

OH, I think I read that wrong. So you can have multiple e-mails under one account?
