Important sources of privacy and security knowledge

Where do you get most of your updated knowledge in privacy and security? And what to watch out for? Is there some very important article or documentation or books that anyone who seek to be very advanced in privacy and security should read and that they are still very useful?

Mostly here. I actively lurk on the forum, so there’s a good chance someone has already posted news about privacy and security from other sources.

The next-latest thread that I found is this. It lists websites, other forums, Youtube channels and other links.

Searching for “resources” using the search feature (top right corner) should work.

I like security journalists talking about hackers (usually the privacy mistakes they made). Case studies of how terrorist networks avoid decapitation strikes etc. Best reads are case studies of pedophiles. Since they are usually guaranteed law enforcement cooperation internationally, their privacy protocols are the best.

Epstein is fucking with my head. Asshole arranged all his rape from Gmail. And used e-mails instead of chat clients, like wtf!

I‘d recommend that you choose reply 3 as the solution since

is almost exactly the same. Someone will probably close this topic soon as duplicate.

Would there have been an alternative in the early-00’s? Sure, he could’ve use a private messenger in his last few years, but when he has been using Gmail for over a decade, I’m not surprised he didn’t switch to something else, especially since he was well-connected and able to get away with his crimes for so long. And guys around his age would only know how to arrange island parties with young girls through e-mail.

install the extension UblockOrigin (if possible) to check how the website (websites that claim to be privacy advocates) acts behind the scene in regards of analytics for example

As for books: “Careless People” by Sara Wynn-Williams. not in case of privacy information but because of the description of facebook

Note that my earlier response in this topic is explicitly a basic answer for digital privacy and security only. If the questions were also or either referring to physical privacy and security, then I have a completely different set of answers for that, which is subject to release pending confirmation from the OP.
