How do I bypass new twitter QR code/send sms phone number verification free?

New twitter phone number verification needs you to send a code to a number, anybody knows how to bypass this for free? I used to have a free temp number for this but it can’t send SMS. Don’t seem to see any guides about this anywhere.

Is it only for new accounts?

You will not be able to find a free service for this. Even free numbers for receiving codes that actually work are few and far between. The best option is probably to buy a prepaid burner number. If you only want to read X posts, you can use xcancel.com without needing to log in.

yes

prepaid burner number is not an option, since it requires registration with real citizen’s number and all that stuff. xcancel is quite good but it lacks the complete features that I want. Is there another way?

I only use xcancel.com myself so I don’t know if this would work, and it’s clearly a faff, but could you post on a suitable forum asking for someone in a country which allows prepaid SIM purchases with cash without ID to buy you a local SIM and put it in one of their phones so they can receive the text for you?

You could pay them via crypto to compensate them anonymously for their time and effort as well as the cost of the SIM and credit.

Obviously they are taking a risk (e.g. you post something controversial and they get arrested) but if they are in a free country they may not be worried about it. And this would effectively be a way for them to get KYC-free crypto in return for spending their local currency.

If money was really no object, you could (subject to trust concerns) send them enough money to buy a burner phone with cash to use the SIM in, which would isolate their real identity further (albeit imperfectly given the million other surveillance technologies).

I can see various arguments for the morality of this but ultimately I guess it’s down to the opinions of you and anyone you find to work with.

A variant on this might be to ask a trusted friend to buy the burner SIM and receive the text for you while they are on vacation in a suitable country.

Alternatively, if you’re just looking for arms’ length privacy but aren’t really trying too hard to hide, do you have a relative who wouldn’t touch Twitter with a bargepole who might let you use their number to sign up?

Bonus random idea: I’m sure I’ve seen in some countries there are guys at markets who have dozens of mobile phones and will rent the use of them to people by the minute. I don’t know if this is still a thing, but if it is it would maybe allow a local helper to receive your text without tying their own identity to the process.

Not free but you can use smspool. Just use it to verify and then remove the number from account. Better yet, if you’ve another device laying around on which you never installed twitter, use that to sign up. It will not prompt you for number (or at least it’ll be skippable)

Did they stop offering the alternative of solving a few puzzles to “prove” you’re human?
