my apologies I wasn’t meaning to. It’s not that big a deal anyway. But it’s simply b/c I always keep hearing that there’s no diff. b/w any browser on iOS and everyone should always use Safari. But much later on I discovered that Brave in fact out of the box has great benefits even on iOS which Safari doesn’t (except, from what I’m learning here, with an extension).
sighhh finally. I was so confused I started doubting myself. I don’t own an iPhone but I put that for my family members and friends who do so I was very sure (and they loved it!)
I’m not opposed to Brave on iOS (it’s my backup browser) but I haven’t felt any meaningful advantages compared to Safari with an extension.
In my eyes, any small perceived convenience of not needing to install a browser extension is negated by the need to install a browser (Brave). In terms of effectiveness, both options seem roughly equivalent (which makes sense since I believe it’s Apple’s content blocking system doing the work under the hood with both Brave and Safari).
On the topic of YT shorts, just so we are all on the same page. Brave is not blocking them by default on iOS (at least not for me):
Overall, I don’t think Brave is a bad choice for iOS, I just don’t see it as having any strong advantages over Safari + an adblocker. When all else is equal, I prefer sticking with the default, or the upstream, which leads me to prefer Safari, but I can understand how you could have a personal preference for Brave in the same situation. Edit: I do think Brave’s UX for adblocking is better than Adguard’s though.
