So, if one wanted to access Usenet to engage in RC aircraft hobbyist forums, what would be the recommended way to pay for Usenet? Do people just use their own personal credit card? Or something different? Most people outside of USA don’t have access to privacy.com virtual credit cards…. And often payment processors will reject something like a prepaid Visa card.
Would ask in the Black Friday deals thread, but it seems replies are currently not permitted.
Some providers accept cash by mail, monero and other crypto. For omicron providers which only accept card or paypal you could get one of these credit cards which you can top up by crypto, or prepaid credit cards.
If you just want to participate in text discussion and not download binaries, block accounts from providers which accept crypto or cash by mail should suffice (added some offers below). They do not expire, so as long as you don’t go over the limit you can keep them forever.
Usenet.Farm : here you can get a free account with 10Gb
Blocknews (NetNews) : You can get 5gb for 2$
Hitnews(Abavia): You can get 25Gb for 1$
NewsDemon (UNE) : 8,5$ for 1Tb
By the way, uploading data is never counted, only the ammount of data you download (bodies, headers from messages are free too). But free accounts cannot be used for upload.
Things like Newshosting or Eweka do not accept prepaid credit cards. At all. So, unfortunately, this type of thing won’t work. Its frustrating omicron does not accept crypto or prepaid cards…
