You won’t be able to use a VPN to activate the cards on trocador, cakepay, etc.

I believe stealths.net let’s you use a vpn. Just make a fresh protonmail when they ask for email don’t use some temp mail.

I’m confuse you said stealth can allow me to use vpn but on their website they said “vpn is not allowed to redemption”

And what happen if i do not use a VPN for activate the card ? Sorry for asking so many questions i’ve never use a prepaid card before. I just need to understand what i’m doing.

Indeed. I don’t know about BitWarden, but AFAIK, except for Simple Login, Proton does not have prepaid cards. If your goal is to purchase anonymously, Proton does accept cash.

IMHO, Proton’s cash payments are not completely anonymous because you are paying them directly. Your payment requires that you reveal your Proton username, which makes sense, otherwise they won’t know to who they should attribute the credit.

However, it can potentially reveal your location, if you are sending the cash from your country of residence. And it can potentially reveal your real name, if you decide to do so, but you don’t have to.

This is why Proton should not only offer gift cards, but make them available on the Proxy Store. The Proxy Store is an independent third party, that sells gift cards for various privacy services such as Simple Login, Addy, and Tuta.

Because they serve as middle man between you and the service you want to purchase from, your identity is never revealed to said service. I have used the Proxy Store to purchase from Tuta & Addy, and have always used a fake name.

The Proxy Store accepts Monero and cash. One of their advantages is that the gift card you purchase from them don’t have to be credited to your account for the service you are purchasing from (e.g.: Tuta). You can gift them. However, once you purchase them, they have to be used within 30 days otherwise they expire.

What services did you purchase with Trocador’s cards? IMO, they should list the various services that work with their cards. Especially the onces from privacy companies like Proton, Tuta, etc…

Moreover, it is my understanding that Monero is the only anonymous cryptocurrency. Yet Trocador accepts a bunch of them. If that is going to be the case, why not accept fiat via regular credit/debit cards or even bank transfer?

I find it so hard to purchase cryptocurrencies when you’re a newbie. I want to buy a small amount of Monero ($10-$20) with no KYC, but it’s proving to be quite difficult.

That’s why i want to avoid using cash and by the way the money can be stolen by someone.

I already know about Proxy Store but they do not solve my problem. I want to buy Proton by using a prepaid card.

You can actually buy monero easily without KYC here https://openmonero.com/

I’d be more afraid of my mail being lost than stolen. This is why it’s highly recommended to send the cash via registered mail, that way you can track it. That’s what I do. The cash in the envelope with a letter, and I never disclose to the post office or courier service that there is cash in my mail. The largest amount I’ve ever sent in one letter is 40 euros.

As far as Proton is concerned, that is currently not possible. It will only become possible when Proton starts offering gift cards.

Thanks for that recommendation. I hope I able to buy small amount of Monero (e.g.: $20) with cash or bank transfer.

I saw a guy on reddit who said it’s possible to pay proton product with prepaid card here Paying with prepaid Visa debit vanilla gift card possible? - r/ProtonVPN

I have no doubt that a some virtual cards work with Proton. Especially those provided by banks. But it’s completely irrelevant to my statement, which is that Proton does not sell gift cards. You can’t buy something that doesn’t exist. It’s like saying you want to buy a car from Proton. Proton doesn’t sell cars.

PS: I did not know about Red Lib as a front end for Reddit. Looks cool. Thanks!

Proton does sell gift cards.

@Proton_Team

Please consider being on ProxyStore too. I would like to have that as an option too.

Color me corrected! This is fantastic! Since when has this been the case, and why is not mentioned in Proton’s payment options page that I shared earlier?

I also find it find 2 things super weird. On Proton’s payment options page, you can purchase a Proton subscription directly via cash and Bitcoin, which is only cryptocurrency Proton accept.

However, for purchasing Proton gift cards, cash is NOT an option. And they accepted other cryptocurrencies than Bitcoin, but NOT Monero.

So basically, you cannot purchase a Proton gift card anonymously. Every gift card purchase is linked to an identity.

That is unacceptable. It also makes no sense. Why can I buy a Proton subscription anonymously when it’s direct, but I can’t buy one anonymously when it’s indirect?

Another weird thing is that neither Simple Login’s or Standard Notes’s logo appear on the Gift Card image. That would suggest that Proton gift cards are not accepted for these services. My guess is, since Proton Pass and SL are now the same product, Proton gift cards are accepted if your subscription is managed via Proton Pass but not via SL.

I will definitely escalate this to Proton Support.

It’s not just sad it’s deliberate and extremely disappointing. We should definitely petition for Proton to make their giftcards available on the Proxy Store. It’s already the case for Simple Login which is a Proton company.

I will be extremely disappointed if Proton ever removes SL gifcards from the Proxy Store because their availability predates Proton’s purchasing of them.

The Proxy Store is an amazing champion for privacy. First because they are independent of all the privacy companies for which they offer gift cards. Secondly, they offer privacy by creating distance between you and the privacy services you purchase.

Third, they accept anonymous payments via cash and Monero. And lastly, they create strength in numbers when gift cards from various popular companies are made available through them. It promotes privacy to the public as legitimate rather than appear shady to those who don’t are against it.

Proton does not accept Monero precisely because they fear coming across as shady, but if they made their gift cards available on the Proxy Store, they wouldn’t have to worry about that. Plus, they already have one foot in the door with SL, so they might as well completely step in.

Ok. I see that it there are people on Open Monero who accept cash for lower amounts such as €25, which is fantastic.

1) Have you ever used them before? If yes, what is your experience?
2) Also, how much time do you typically have to make the payment as a buyer?

I ask this because if I am not in the country of the seller, it may take up to a week.

This is a shady service please don’t recommend it. openmonero.co : Monero

They act as a proxy to buy prepaid cards supported, read https://trocador.app/en/prepaidcards/

  1. I’ve never use cash to buy Monero on the site i recommend you to use Gift Card payment if you want to stay anonymous. But if you want only to use cash then trade with someone on the site with good feedback and good reputation. For example someone like jmcabc2008 on the site.

  2. If you use cash the seller need to wait to receive the money to send you the monero. But for other payments (online) both of you have one hour to make the trade after that the trade will be closed. In general every trade i’ve made has take less than 2 minutes by using a online payment.

I wonder if you read the comments of the link you sent… everyone in the post are saying this is safe. Most of traders on the site is from localmonero don’t spread FUD. I’ve been trading with jmcabc2008 in the past for example on localmonero and i’ve never had any issue.

You clearly don’t know about the well known scammer called kewbit, he runs shit like haveno[.[ com (etc you can see a comment on reddit link I shared. The website is poorely created, just like his other scams and do you even know who is behind it? It is probably kewbit.

I didn’t know gift cards were an option as a payment. Is that what you used? Also, what kind of gift cards, Amazon gift cards?

@jerm I take PG’s advice very seriously. Especially when it’s in an area I have little to no knowledge. I’m aware that they only recommend a handful of places to buy Monero, and Open Monero is not one of them. I appreciate you warning me. This is one of the reason I want my first time purchase to be a very low amount, so that if anything goes wrong, the loss is minimal.

I will investigate Open Monero further before I make a decision.
