I found a site called PikaSim.com that claims to offer fast, anonymous eSIMs for more than 170 countries without creating an account. It looks promising, but I don’t know anyone who has used it and couldn’t find any reviews about it. So I wanted to double-check before purchasing one.
Is it trustworthy? Does it really avoid requiring personal data?
If someone here knows more about anonymous eSIM providers, I’d appreciate your input.
I don’t want to make assumptions on stuff I have little to no knowledge of, but after reading recent articles on how many eSIM providers route through China, I’d be wary. Their prices are good though. Almost too good.
At least they give you the option to toggle it, and it’s not for all countries.
It looks like their domain was registered around 8 months ago, which explains why there aren’t many reviews on it. If you want a trusted eSIM provider similar to this, silent.link is great.
I have also used eSIM from here: https://lnvpn.net/ and it worked well for me for the week I needed it. Though, again, I always used a VPN so not sure how “private” it is otherwise but the service did its job.
There could be others people may find on https://kycnot.me/ if people want to learn of other options.
If they turn out to be ok, then it’s good that there is more choice.
A worry I’ve had in the back of my mind is… what if we don’t have silent.link anymore (for whatever reason)?
Even if we’re happy with one provider, it’s good to have a back-up choice. Hopefully PikaSIM will build a good track record and we can add them to a recommended list in the future.
Several people have brought up silent.link but arguably they don’t provide the same service. This pikasim is just a reseller of prepaid esims, and there are plenty of services that allow purchasing prepaid esims with crypto and no personal info.
Silent.link critically sells a global esim with data that doesn’t expire and can be topped up - something that I haven’t seen anywhere else. It also happens to be cheaper than any of the prepaid esim options even if you treat it as a one time use sim (and it doesn’t even route through china like the cheapest prepaid esims do). In essence, silent.link is just significantly more affordable and logistically easier.
I wish there were more options because what if silent.link goes away, but right now there aren’t because none of these options are comparable.
Agree that it’s good to have options.. And silent.link doesn’t accept credit cards and that’s actually a big use-case for non-crypto people. Pika seems to accept credit cards
No matter where you buy it from, the esim is only going to be truly anonymous if you pay with payment not connected to your identity (monero, cash, anonymous gift card, etc.), and you don’t put it in a phone that’s already had a sim linked to your name, and you never turn it on anywhere near your home (switched off inside a faraday bag at home). If you’re not gonna do all that stuff then don’t worry about it too much. It’s not easy to remain anonymous on cell networks.
