Hey everyone, I’m looking into obtaining long-term phone numbers that aren’t tied to my cellular identity. Does anyone know any privacy focused VoIP providers that offer European phone numbers?
Ideally they would accept crypto payments and require minimal information to register. I found jmp.chat, but unfortunately they only provide US and Canada numbers.
I also know Twilio, but they are more tailored for businesses instead of individuals, and I’ve heard that they like to suspend accounts randomly for no reason which would be unfortunate.
Anyone had experience with this in Europe in 2025?
SIM cards with phone numbers require KYC to activate in my country. If I use a SIM like that then the cell provider knows exactly who I am and my location at all times.
Meanwhile data-only eSIMs can be bought anonymously with XMR. Combined with a VPN and VoIP numbers, the cell providers don’t know my real identity, while the VoIP numbers do know my identity but don’t know my location. This approach decouples my cellular identity from my phone numbers.
You might have luck with cobblingsomethingtogether via JMP. I’m unsure about the crypto part though. I’d stay away from crypton.sh and similar outfits.
“Permanent” is something you at least are able to port in and out and is unlikely to cut you off because you’re not the type of customer they want (talking about Twilio, Vonage etc). Same goes for “second number" type things like Onoff. VoIP.ms might offer some third-party refill options, but they have few numbers that are SMS-capable. I think none of them are European.
I wish JMP offered a couple of EU phone numbers directly. Whatver you choose make sure it’s better than status quo.
If you have ties to the UK, such as a bank account, consider A&A, which offer 07 mobile “VoIP” numbers. You can use them either directly or via JMP SGX. I checked with them a year or two ago, and it was a requirement. They do not accept crypto, though. It’s not a “privacy provider,” and, frankly, neither is JMP. For long-term numbers you plan to tie to your identity, this shouldn’t matter.
Thanks for the detailed info! After looking some more it looks like Vonage is the only service that provides numbers in my country supporting both SMS+Voice, so that’s what I’ll probably use
You might want to explore mytello_com. It’s basically a Google Voice alternative. If you check their privacy policy you’ll notice they are using Google Analytics so not perfect if you want to stay anonymous. Tello does not provide you with VoIP DID but once you verify a number you can use it for Caller ID.
Voip_ms is great and they provide phone numbers from 100+ countries. You can set it up with quite a few soft phones.
