Add Proton Drive to Photo Manager recommendations

Proton Drive has a photos section with albums, auto backup, and other photo storage features. Furthermore, it meets the minimum requirements, namely:

  • Cloud-hosted providers must enforce E2EE.
  • Must offer a free plan or trial period for testing.
  • Must support TOTP or FIDO2 multifactor authentication, or passkey logins.
  • Must offer a web interface which supports basic file management functionality.
  • Must allow for easy exports of all files/documents.
  • Must be open source.

It would also meet the Best Case criteria, as it has been audited by a third party

I tried it for photo management last year and it was terrible, especially loading time.

Is it better now?

Yes it’s significantly better now, especially in the mobile app.

They’ve also added media categories (videos, live photos, burst & RAW) and albums for sorting.
