Proton photos are available for everyone. Though I don’t see it coming in my app, maybe I have to wait a few days.
Yes
This feature is gradually rolling out to the Proton community and will be available to everyone by the end of this week.
I don’t know why I have this gut feeling but I feel like Proton is just turning into another Google.
They want us to put all our eggs in one basket. Something just feels so off about Proton, personally.
It’s something to keep under the radar and having competition is healthy. I’m settled with Ente for media management and storage.
My biggest gripe with Proton at the moment is not being able to upgrade specific plans if you already have Mail Plus. You have no choice but to upgrade to the Unlimited plan.
I can understand that they’d like to somewhat become a suite like Microsoft 360 or Google 1, but at times this can fall short for companies if they don’t focus on their strengths.
I still can’t find a good reason to switch to Proton Pass from Bitwarden and Proton VPN from Mullvad. I don’t have much of an opinion with Proton Drive because I’m still researching which cloud software I should store my documents in.
You can‘t upload your photos when using mobile data. It only works when using wifi. You can‘t delete uploaded photos and you can‘t search your photos.
I don’t what Proton was thinking when designing this feature
You hold down on the photos to select & delete.
It’s just a photo backup service, not a photo gallery (yet?) so I wouldn’t expect advanced functionality like the search you’d find in iCloud/Google Photos.
It seems to be a server-side switch, since it just showed up within the last hour for me, but there have been no App Store updates for Proton Drive in 3 days (and the version number hasn’t changed).
I second that. No updates on App Store but Photos tab is available right now. Wasn’t available a few hours ago.
Indeed, the option just popped up in the app today without an update.
