Currently I am using Openkeychain for my PGP keys. And I am trying to determine if it is worth it to switch to an app that is being more actively developed? I use FairEmail on my phone with Openkeychain currently and the developer of FairEmail has started to add more support for PGPony, and that is what prompted this question. Or is there another app on android for managing PGP keys that I should look at?
IMO their apps are far too new to trust on top of likely being heavily vibecoded with how many apps from them showed up in such a short amount of time very recently.
Alternative recommendation
On another note I would recommend looking into using age over PGP.
Thank you, that is how I felt about the PGPony app when I was looking at it and the website.
Also, it’s my understanding that age encryption doesn’t work with encrypting emails, it would mainly be used for encrypting email attachments though. Is that not correct?
Also, it doesn’t appear that FairEmail, Thunderbird, or K-9 email clients for android support age encryption. Is there a different email client for android that does support age encryption for emails?
