See my answer above, I could have used ranked voting but this would have been difficult to measure then. Just select the browser you use most.
Desktop:
- Default: Zen
- Alternative: Brave
Android:

- Alternative: Brave
IOS:
- Default: Orion
- Backup: Brave
Another orion user!!!
Wanted to like Orion but can’t really gel with it on the iPad. Orion, like almost every other third-party browser I’ve tried on iPadOS, can’t do that pinch gesture that brings up all my tabs like Safari does. Might seem trivial, but it’s how I like tab switching on my iPad.
Was this referring to raindrop.io or Vivaldi’s bookmarks?
It’s raindrop . io
Unfortunately they seem opposed to E2EE, which made me personally distrust them
I was just about to check them out. Thanks for saving me the time
Sometimes I go to Brave, on GrapheneOS, but I always come back to Vanadium, as I believe it is more private and definitely more secure.
It could use some better pop-up blocking, but… can’t have everything (in life)
It’s not more private. It lacks good tracker blocking and its fingerprint protection are lacking compared to Brave. Doesn’t disagree it’s more secure.
We will have to agree, to disagree, on that then. But this is okay
These older posts is where I have based my opinion, and decision, on.
Edit:
I have no idea why the links are displayed the way they are. Interesting links on the topic of FP
Since, personally, I cannot verify neither, but what Daniel writes makes perfect sense to me, I have decided to trust someone who coded the operating system I run more than “random” people on the Internet.
Some more information here:
The reddit posts you linked are 6 years old, and do not even mention Brave.
The overview you linked even acknowledge privacy features they lack:
State partitioning still needs to be fully completed. The main remaining hurdle is providing full cookie partitioning. Mainstream browsers with this feature rely on heuristics bypassing cookie partitioning which can be easily abused to bypass the feature. We tried deploying full cookie partitioning by default but had to roll it back and will need to consider how to approach this particularly with our goal of having most Vanadium users using nearly the same configuration.
We plan to move to a better content engine with support for more advanced filter rules and cosmetic filtering in the future. Expanding the standard filters will depend on having support for the extensions used by uBlock Origin, AdGuard and other filters.
Well I guess you filter for different things then I do:
You talk about privacy in general but then talk specifically about fingerprinting which is not something any mainstream browser has meaningful defenses against, including Firefox.<
Doesn’t work. Also makes little sense to talk about customization and anti-fingerprinting together. An anti-fingerprinting browser wouldn’t have settings, extensions, etc especially since many of those completely break it directly.<
I know the thread is 6 years old
Like I said, these two, old, Reddit links are what I base my decision off of. (Plus the one ok Trivalent here recently.)
Since I can’t verify if it’s working or not, which no one can, I need to go down a route.
Which I did.
Anyway have a good day buddy
That’s fine I guess. anyway, Vanadium is fine and at the end of the day better than most browsers, so
Same with Brave.
In case you didn’t see it I’ll send the other Thread to you by DM.
But again, I can’t know for sure, since I’m a layman, I could be wrong altogether.
What I have come around to doing is, decide and stick to it. And then (try) to move on.
Instead of getting lost.
On mobile it’s Brave because you can delete browsing history and
data when it is closed.
Vanadium, not so much
Sure you can.
Long press Vanadium - long press New Incognito Tab - move icon to home screen.
That’s what I, and many others, do for general browsing and use the regular Vanadium tab for logins.
Wtf? Back to square one then. If anyone knows any good alternatives with e2ee I’m all ears
I think this is a very reasonable approach ! It takes care of our sanity too
I did exactly the same and now I stick with Vanadium.
Why ? There is content filtering. Why do you say the tracker blocking is not good?
A little off topic but you can use Floccus. It’s what I’ve been using and it’s pretty useful. All bookmarks are stored locally and you can setup the way you want (git, Google drive, next cloud, WebDAV…)
It does have an android app and on desktop, all bookmarks are stored inside the bookmarks menu and/or bookmarks tab bar.
