Veronica Explains: GrapheneOS can help you retake your privacy, right now

I’m not saying that’s the case all the time, but most boot-lickers do also behave very nicely in presence of people they might dislike (a lot).
Being transparent and raw is not something I would blame because I prefer people honest (not bad surprises that way the day some liked public personality potentially flips).

Again, I haven’t read enough about GOS nor had any bad experience with them, so saying that from a generic POV.
You can of course be nice and get along with people too.
Being in the same “industry” shouldn’t force you to like or be liked by everybody tho. :+1:t2:

I do not expose myself to the whole drama, just sometimes catch up on the technical aspects when I have questions.
Moreover, I don’t really care about it either.
I’m mostly just satisfied by the OS and what it enables me to do on a daily basis.

In the most nicest way possible: I don’t really care.

I’m not donating, nor defending GOS’ team in any way.
Meanwhile, I am deeply in love when it comes down to GOS the software yes.

If you disagree, it won’t change anything on my end. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Well, clearly you care enough to partake in this thread. But whatever. I don’t believe you get how and what I am saying here.

I might have different definitions of “off the rails,” “unsettling,” or “going after,” but GrapheneOS comms, while not perfect, are nothing like that.

They sometimes sound more defensive than warranted, but that is mostly a side effect of people intentionally peddling disinformation about them or others rehashing second‑hand opinions without knowledge of the subject. There is clearly demand for privacy and security advice, and it is unfortunately dominated by bad or misinformed actors. A lot of people read these threads, so misinformation should be countered with better information. As long as it does not come at the expense of their work, their comms are fine.

Their channels also serve as a treasure trove of information on mobile security, arguably the best out there. It’s part and parcel of why they garner so much interest online.

I like their uncompromising stance. They’re not trying to pretend to be everyone’s friend simply by virtue of operating in a similar space. This, of course, doesn’t sit well with some people’s sensibilities, which is fine. If you’re someone who is turned off by their comms to the point of avoiding them, choose something else.

Plenty of meh people do amazing things (Harry Potter, Brave, Proton).
You might dislike the person for sure, but focus on the creation instead.

If there is feature/quality-parity with something else, then pick the other because of the human aspect.
Until the parity is met, you’re sometimes stuck with the better tool done by someone you don’t fully resonate with. :hugs:

PS: not sure why I quoted you @plus-subzero, didn’t meant to. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It is also important to note that there’s a limit to this. Example: Hollywood Actors and Execs.

Everyone has their limits to which they are willing to accommodate depending on what the problematic behavior is.
