Vaulted note-taking app

I’m looking for a vault functionality similar to KeePassXC.

  1. Quickly locked: as fast as a keypress and everything else disconnects.
  2. Cacheless: so that the editor (unlike vim and emacs) don’t create backups of the notes.
  3. Automatically locked when screensaving.

Suggestions?

First of all, both vim and emacs can be configured not to create backups, and they can integrate with something like Tomb for the vault thing. If you’re looking for easier alternatives, I think cryptee or standard notes have options to set passwords, but not as advanced as KeePassXC. You can also use KeePassXC to store notes, but it is not that convenient.

This looks interesting:

I might be totally wrong, but is Notesnook an option?

Notesnook isn’t really a vault. It’s also cloud-based, which might not be what OP wants

You can self-host it.

I know but what i was getting at was that the OP seemed to want a local solution.

Standard Notes should fit the bill, no?
