I donât necessarily agree with that assessment. China is almost certainly more egregious in its violations of personal privacy. The big difference is the âliberalâ western democracies like to pretend to care about privacy when, in fact, they are much closer to China in terms of surveillance than they let on.
They donât need to ban 1984. People literally read the book and yet they seemingly donât recognise the parallels between modern society, or simply donât care.
Acrually plenty Uk stores also use facial recognition tech to âidentifyâ known shoplifters and ban them from entering the shop, but keep getting the wrong guy. I call it hallucination.
And true the general public really dont care, many of them even asked for more for âsafety reasonsâ.
