Join us 2025-10-31T21:00:00Z for This Week in Privacy #25, to catch up on the latest Privacy Guides updates and to discuss trending news in the privacy space.
During the livesteam we’ll answer viewer questions. If you have a question for us, please leave a comment in this forum thread or the YouTube chat.
Members please leave your questions for us and we will try to get them answered first during the livestream
Please be aware that by posting here your post will be displayed on the YouTube stream.
Please also speak about Flock and its surveillance apparatus (via ALPRs) it is trying to bring across the US. Much has been reported from Louis Rossmann and it needs reiterating so more know about it. A couple of stories and info has also been posted on the forum so you may refer to those too.
Maybe some notes/feedback on this episode from my POV:
always nice to have the reminder of the announcements
I think that Jonah’s technical issues will be fixed very soon, hence that’s probably not a huge problem
I wonder if we could maybe have an in-depth post on how to “opt out” from Clearview/PimEyes, I’m not too familiar with it at least
SMSpool’s news is not such a bad news as a whole but Affinity is indeed a huge let down because might just turn into ’ied VC software very soon… Wish companies would understand that we do not want any AI in our tools.
I was wondering regarding the Q&A of the livestream if:
a different time for the episode might not be fitting more people? Not sure if a poll was brought to the community to see if some people maybe prefer a more EU-based timezone? Or maybe having a stream that is odd/even and would overlap both US + EU timezones?
more of a UX thing but I found that this page was actually quite hidden, it would probably benefit from having some sort of a navbar/footer link on privacyguides.org? (more of a Site Development suggestion that I might reference at a later point once I find more UX potential improvements )
finally, maybe multistreaming to Twitch + Twitter + Peertube + [etc…] could also be a nice way to have visibility and interaction with a unified chat? (not sure if there are anonymous livestream chats available)
Hopefully this feedback is somewhat helpful to improve the future episodes.
