Fair. But who isn’t doing this? We are kinda screwed there. There are like 2 manufacturers I know who make dumb TVs, and they don’t have great picture quality.
The problem is the source of your stream not the output. A computer using Linux will only stream Netflix at 720p, the only exception is in case you are using the Opera browser which allows it to stream at 1080p. Source
It is not that simple, if you are seeking for video output quality your cable box must be certified by Netflix. Source
If you are ok of getting a 4K TV and don’t bother streaming Netflix at 720p, yeah, you are good then.
Reading this thread is so demoralizing. I’ll just stick with my 1080p 10 years old tv (still works super well).
There are 3 that makes display tech: LG, Samsung and TCL
I am deeply ashamed.
But does Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) also work with NSFW content? Is Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) also performed when streaming from Raspberry to TV?
Does anyone have any details? NSFW content is less interesting for the advertising industry.
How are TVs different from monitor again, apart from their TV tuner capabilities (and tv channel related features) and IR (TV remote) features?
I remember Sony having good image post processing and I am wondering how practical it is for non-movies as I think this introduces a bit of lag (hence some performance/gaming modes in some TVs).
@HauntSanctuary
TVs also often lack DPMS.
Have they figured out how to get DolbyVision working? Last I tried like 1.5 years ago, if you put lineage on it, DV wouldn’t work.
If you connect an actual computer to the TV, you can run a PixelOS or even Android TV in Android Studio and I suppose you can get 4k with the official app.
It needs to be a Netflix device supported Netflix Supported Devices | Watch Netflix on your TV, phone, or computer | Netflix Help Center
