Short description
Alpha, microkernel, modular operating system written in Rust and led by a System76 dev. Has a GUI called Orbital, which has elements from the COSMIC desktop environment.
Why I think this tool should be added
Like with the Ladybird thread, I think this is not something to be recommended now, but something I think would be worth keeping an eye on. I know that Redox has had a thread before, but that thread was just asking about opinions on it.
Many people in the privacy community are dissatisfied with Linux’s approach to security. Once Redox hits stable, it could not only alleviate those concerns, but increase the security model for operating systems in general.
Additionally, GrapheneOS has expressed the desire to switch from Linux to a microkernel with a Linux compatibility layer, and this could fill that gap.
