Proton Pass product roadmap for next 6 months : file atachments, desktop-wide autofill, and more

The planned autofill is neat, I wouldn’t have to copy paste from the extension to apps now. Hope they will make it available on Linux.

Proton Pass is probably the most impressive Proton product.

1Password: has been around for over 18 years, received a billion in VC funding, is proprietary.

Bitwarden: has been around for over 8 years and has received 100 million dollars in VC funding.

Proton Pass: has been around for only 1 year, no VC funding, 100% user funded, and already made this much progress with so much more coming in these 6 months.

Kind of hard to do it correctly with Wayland right now. I think there is a proper way of doing it its probably still under development.

Also I wish there are some Proton rep with some official capacity in this community, that would have been cool.

Personally I wish they would take over the Flathub flatpaks and make them official. The .rpms are preventing me to update my Silverblue install

also their website keeps on insisting to sear my eyes in my dark room that I am typing in now. Why cant all websites be dark mode or just dark grey mode as an accessibility feature?

When you put it like that, sure. But I still think it still has a long way to be good.

There is: @Proton_Team.

Same.

Distrobox.

Because it’s not an accessibility feature, you can also force all sites to use dark mode with a simple browser setting.

It has been good for me from the release, so this is highly subjective.

As a new user to pass (started late october) was hoping they would add hardware keys as mfa for Pass as an alternative to the extra password. Honestly any other option would be nice, the last thing I want to do is remember two passwords to use the software that is meant to remember my passwords.

Also a bit frustrated the website field doesn’t seem to be copyable.

Couldn’t you just have MFA keys for your proton account?

That seemingly only works if I am using a browser to access Pass. Not if I use the desktop application or Android app.

Honestly, why would you only use the Proton Pass app and not their add-on? It’s so convenient to use their extension.

Personal preference. Just never been a fan of password manager browser addons.

Honestly though, I don’t think its crazy to want MFA capabilities to be standard across all their apps. I should be able to use my hardware key regardless of how I access Pass+

All of Proton’s Android apps support security keys.

Can you link me how to set it up for Pass? I have been using a PIN.

You can’t set it up on the apps themselves, you can only do it using their web interface, but authenticating with security keys works across all of their apps, including Proton Pass.

yeah I think were on the same page. My issue is that can only be done on the browser and not through their apps on android or desktop etc. I think the confusion was my use of the term “apps”.

You mean @Proton_Team ? Lol

I already pointed that out in my post above.

Great news! I’m really happy about the upcoming biometric unlock for browser extensions and auto-fill for desktop apps—those are the two main features I’ve been eagerly awaiting. Once they’re rolled out, I’ll likely make the transition to Proton Pass, especially now that I have a lifetime subscription.

However, I’m still hoping for a feature that allows me to permanently sort my vault entries in alphabetical order on macOS.

If you click the double arrow and select A-Z doesn’t it stays permanently?

It does.

It works on iOS, but for some reason, it doesn’t function on macOS, whether in the standalone app or the Safari extension (it does work in Brave however). I just tested it again to ensure I’m not making an incorrect claim.
