I’ve been using Proton Mail for a few months and couldn’t be happier. Works fine and I managed to integrate all my routine with it. That said, I just discovered that there is a specific list of recommended email clients.
Can someone explain to me what would be the benefits of adopting Thunderbird instead of Proton Mail’s desktop and web app? I believe the interface may be better, but everything keeps as encrypted as using the main app?
Interesting. For that function I already use auto-forwarding to a Proton alias and manage different email accounts using filters and labels, so it wouldn’t be much more productive. Thanks for the answer!
Thunderbird is almost as old as dirt. People may be rather fond of it and quite productive as part of their daily workflow and muscle memory. Yet may want the security and features of Proton.
People rarely have just 1 email account. There is the old acount, old old account, current account, work, spam address, forced gmail if your using android, forced apple if you’re using apple, forced Microsoft account for windows login…
Thunderbrid, just like fairemail allow to add all account under 1 software, and have consistent user experience.
more importantly : it also allow you to keep a local cache of your email, in case your account is deleted or lost. You can also move your 10gb + email from the server to a local folder to clean up space. Hopefully, your local machine is also backed up regularly, and thus you have full backup of your mail.
