Free users used to have 1 gigabyte of storage in their email and 5 gigabytes on Proton Drive.
I am a Proton Pass + Simplelogin lifetime user and was supposed to get 10 gigabytes of storage for attachments in Proton Pass, in addition to 5 gigabytes of drive space and 1 gigabyte of email storage.
That was the case until recently, when Proton combined everything into a single 10 gigabytes!
Just checked mine, it seems like they changed it to 10GB across the board. On my non-paying proton account it still shows the drive and mail storage separately.
I also selected to upgrade to Mail Plus to see what it says, and it says the space is shared across everything.. I don’t think this was here before but i have only ever paid for Proton Pass.
I’m a paying customer on a tier that includes Pass and I still have like 950GB or whatever across mailboxes and drive. They bump it up by 50GB every few months - but I have to go into settings and allocate the new storage space. Maybe check that and otherwise contact support.
I’m positive to get the 5gb drive space it has required you to follow some security steps after creating the account, otherwise it stays at 1gb. So you get 1 and earn and extra 4 if you do certain things within a time frame. Been that way for ages I’m sure. The app walks you through the steps too
No, they didn’t. Prior to the change, Lifetime Pass accounts only got 1GB storage in Pass. So in other words before (if you just had Proton Pass Lifetime attached to a free account), you would’ve had:
Proton Mail: 1GB
Proton Drive: 5 GB
Proton Pass: 1GB
Now, you get 10GB shared across all products. In other words, Proton has given you an extra 3GB. Say “thank you, Proton”
10 gb for Pass only was not that useful, I am glad the storage is now available to all products.
I have Pass Lifetime and Mail Plus, but my total storage is only 15 gb. Seems like they will only give you the max storage of the plans you have instead of the sum.
Doesn’t bother me, but Proton should be more transparent about it.
