I use youtube in browser (windows) , and on android (youtube revanced) but i’m struggling to find a practical way to sync playlists between the two platforms , anyone has a suggestion ?
there is freetube on windows but it’s not syncable (yet) with freetube android , piped is being blocked by youtube , invidious is less blocked but clipious ( invidious android client) is still not mature yet , creating a throaway google account and using it with browser/revanced+microg seems to be less of a headache than other options but i still would like to avoid giving google anything …
is there a note taking app that has youtube thumbnails , maybe that could work ?
thanks for the suggestion but i just tried it and i can’t open/share youtube links in/to the pwa , so i would need to manually copy the link and open the pwa and paste to search for the video and then add it to the playlist , not very practical plus it’s kinda what i’m already doing with clipious lol , at least it has a slightly better UI
Do you wish to simply follow some video publishers? As long as you don’t want to actually interact with it, post comments, etc., then you can use RSS. YouTube provides RSS feeds for all channels. No YouTube account needed to follow someone as if you had subscribed to their channel, just add the feed to your RSS reader’s or aggregator’s “subscriptions”.
If you are already using RSS to follow news you can just add the video feeds for the channels you want to follow to your RSS feed list.
If you don’t have a RSS setup, there are some that allow sync between devices so you don’t have to read the same news headlines multiple times. For example, if you have access to a NextCloud instance you can have that aggregate feeds and then have RSS readers on each device point to the NextCloud instance.
The RSS reader I use (not Windows or Android) opens YouTube items feeds in my Mulvad browser which, in turn can/will play the videos with out ads and then wipes everything clean when I exit it to reduce tracking.
thank you but what i meant by youtube playlist is a personalized list of youtube videos to watch later
i already use rss to follow youtube subscriptions* , make sure your rss reader supports WebSub (formerly PubSubHubbub ) to get instant notifications instead of relying on rss reader polling interval
Maybe consider something like raindrop.io (a bookmark service) or Pocket (by Mozilla) it will help you a lot ?
You can be free as you will have actual YouTube that aren’t broken until video is taken down, organized and cross-platform. You can share the YouTube link to Raindrop or Pocket via android share menu and save it. You need to do some taps but not copy pasting though.
seems that it will do the trick thank you , now need to know which bookmark service offers e2ee , raindrop seems to have open source apps , pocket doesn’t seem so even though owned by Mozilla , strange …
yeah but the ui/ux is not that good (at least for me) , raindrop seems to be a good option as suggested by @ikelatomig , i’ll post here if I find something better
i’m not sure if linkwarden has e2ee but they don’t have an android app yet anyway …
