Privacy-oriented fitness band

Hi,
I’m looking for a fitness wristband to count my number of steps. Nothing fancy, nothing connected, no app or anything required. I have the feeling that, nowadays, every wristband is going to do more than I ask. I read in another thread that Garmin might be the less bad. Any more specific recommendation?
Thanx!

Have you considered using a good-old-fashioned clip-on pedometer? It seems like it might fit your use case quite well, even though it isn’t a wristband. I can’t vouch for any specific product, but this one appears to have good reviews.

Great suggestion by @phnx.
I just wanted to add that if you only need step tracking, your phone might be better than a fitness band. Modern phones have great sensors, and even a basic pedometer app (with network access off) can be more accurate than a wristband. Wristbands can miscount steps because of hand movements, while a phone in your pocket is less likely to make those errors since it’s strapped to your leg. Plus, using your phone means you can skip GPS tracking, which helps with privacy.

Very good points both. I will try an app to start with. However, I remain interested in a wrist band (for fear of battery drain on my phone, since the app is running constantly), so I leave the thread open for advice on that front.

If your concern is battery health, I recommend “Pedometer Step Counter” by “Leap Fitness Group”. It’s non-free so definitely make sure you disable network access for the app and for Google Play Services too.
It’s been running for 4 days in the background with less than 1% battery drain.

can get a band that is compaitable with gadget bridge.

just get something that is “highly supported”

Thanks. I guess one part that I don’t really get is what connects to what. Do the devices connect only to the phone/app or do they connect to other servers? Maybe that’s a silly question, but just to be sure. Because a simple wristband with a small screen showing the step count is fine, otherwise.

some devices need a one-time key from server, after that I don’t think they send anything home.
