For several weeks, the ProtonVPN free servers seem to be overloaded, causing untimely disconnections.
Is Proton team poised to add new free servers OR the free users will be complied to subscribe paid plans ?
What are the reasons, in your opinion, of these sudden overloading ?
Thanks,
Hmmm can anybody think of some big news events from earlier in November?
Gee what could it be?
Yes, it’s still like that after the election
Is that the case?
All servers are now at 80-90% capacity and are extremely slower than usual
It had to happen sooner or later, because the average citizen who doesn’t need any extra features hardly has a reason to pay
The strategy of getting lots of new users and attention through the free servers has worked in recent years.
How can you be so sure the problem is from free users ? As far as I remember, with the free plan, you only have access to a very, very few number of servers. No more than 5-6 maybe… last time I was on free plan was 3-4 years ago so maybe it changed.
Are you talking about free or paid servers?
They are still pretty fast on paid servers. I have a 1.5 gigabit fiber connection and I get at-least 550 mbps down at all times and sometimes close to 700 (when I connect to the country I am in with the fastest connection).
Your mileage could vary depending on where you are and where you connect to and if you use Secure Core.
I am talking about free Servers.
And nowadays you habe around 165 Servers alone in one country in the netherlanda. The US has a similar Humber of Servers.
