It's ProtonVPN rate-limiting me?

Hello everybody! Well, the problem is that I use PVPN on my Linux PC through OpenVPN, but for some reason after an undefined amount of time the VPN stops working for some reason. When I disconnect from the VPN everything goes fine through my regular connection. I use the same PVPN account for WireGuard connections on my phone and I’ve never had any issues with it, only on my computer through OpenVPN (should I set up WG on my PC?). It’s pretty annoying because this leaks my IP, and I had the same problem with my past computer using Linux through OpenVPN as well, so I think because of this that maybe is a PVPN problem, but I’m not sure. I’m using the free tier btw

What could I do in this case? I’m not sure how to troubleshoot this problem.

Proton say they do not limit bandwidth or data: Does Proton VPN have a bandwidth or data limit? | Proton VPN

Have you tried their troubleshooting guides?

You might want to try using Proton’s official client, rather than third party clients like OVPN / WG clients.

My network traffic is hundreds of GBs a month, did not get rate limited. It is unstable at times, though.

Hmm… I’ll check it out.

The problem is that AFAIK the kill-switch feature is premium, something that I need (and no, I can’t afford a premium plan unfortunately).

i have a premium plan but i never saw anything like that…
