Only Office Windows Defender detected Trojan

Anyone else got that? Should I be worried?

Not sure why windows would flag only office but ensure that you downloaded only office from the legit website and not from 3rd party sources.
Also you can check the onlyoffice exe with other virus scanning tools like virustotal.
I couldn’t find any similar complaints regarding this on the internet, so you should probably inspect it further and try to find out the reason behind such flagging.

That is very unusual…

I also want to add that Windows Defender can be a bit proactive sometimes. Regardless, make sure to follow the warning that it gave you for now. We don’t really know if this is a false positive or not.

Are you sure you downloaded OnlyOffice from the right place and the right file? Double check on that as well.

Remember, MS is in the business of selling you Office 365 subscriptions so, take it with a grain of salt.

But just to be safe, get the binary from their code repository (GHub or GLab or whereever). Toss the same binary to virustotal.com and see if the bigger vendors have flagged it as malware.

Yes.

I tried finding the threat detection in Windows Defender again, but I can’t seem to find it. I rerun a scan and no threats were detected. Weird.

Well, as long as it works now.

But if you are able, please find other OS you can use instead if Windows. I know, this is a non answer suggestion but I’m guessing you already know why I say this. Windows is hated by all for all the good and right reasons from privacy enthusisats.

Its just probably MS being the naughty. Its like they didnt learn anything from the antitrust trials and doubled down.
