Absolutely hilarious how product with good reputation went downhill by irresponsible movement of founder. I wish true face was shown earlier.
It reminds me of ddg “had” agreement with microsoft that ruined trust and claimed business as shady at all. But what could we expect of 5 eyes company anyway?
Sweden is also obligated by 14 eyes agreement. I won’t be surprised if that’s a grand honeypot…

Oh, what a shame. Another privacy company destroying its own reputation via one of the founders by donating to a party that contradicts some of your core principles.
I can tolerate companies making mistakes and I get the world is complicated, but hypocrisy is unforgivable for me and the fact they don’t denounce this co-founder and say how wrong they are with this donation is shameful.

I’m curious if Obscura will be commenting on this. I had been considering switching to them when my current VPN subscription is up, but I’d definitely want to know their stance on this before doing so, seeing as they use Mullvad as their second hop.
I expected this to cause a controversy on Reddit, but not here out of all places. I don’t see what’s the big deal

Privacy is very deeply linked with politics, which may not seem obvious at first—but political action is the only way to secure real, lasting, sweeping privacy. The forum’s apolitical nature is probably more a result of its membership than actual relevancy.
