uBlock Origin extension keeps being disabled by Mullvad Browser.
Are there any decent alternatives to uBlock that Mullvad will accept?
Currently the only option I can find is to continually reinstall uBlock once Mullvad disables it.
That’s odd. It’s my understanding that uBlock Origin comes standard with Mullvad Browser and is a pivotal part of its privacy features, so it being disabled makes no sense. I haven’t experienced this issue personally. Maybe @ruihildt can comment on this being a known issue or some sort of bug on your end. One fix you could try in the meantime is uninstalling and reinstalling the browser since there’s not really anything to lose other than a few basic settings.
This would be a bug, what’s your platform and version?
I am so glad I asked! I’ve been fighting this for a long time.
Background:
-after installing uBlock, it will work for a period of time, then become disabled. Mullvad extensions state that is not able to verify (or something like that). So, I have to go back through the installation process for uBlock again (link provided below)
Windows 11 Pro (22H2)
Mullvad Browser (13.5.1)
Ublock (1.58.0)
Mullvad Browser includes uBO by default, it is even uninstallable from the settings.
If it’s not the case, reinstall Mullvad Browser from scratch. (Backup your favorites first, if you have some)
I will do that. Again, thanks for your support.
Are you sure you arent looking at it in pages where it is supposed to be disabled, like the firefox addons page, new empty tab and so on? Is it disabled for proper websites?
It has been resolved by deleting and then reinstalling a fresh Mullvad browser.
But to answer your question, no it was actually being disabled for all and the way I would find out is by having all the ads showing up. I’d go into extensions and it could not be enabled again. Mullvad reported it could not verify it from a valid source (or something like that). Hopefully it won’t reappear now.
It just happened again. Mullvad browser disabled uBlock. If you remember, you had me delete and reisntall a fresh Mullvad browser.
uBlock just got disabled in the fresh Mullvad browser. I took screen shots to show. Why would this happen?
You should report it here: Issues · mullvad/mullvad-browser · GitHub
Thank you for that . Will do!
If you are in windows, so you have a group policy setting disabling it automatically?
I have no idea. It is a Windows 11 Pro 22H2. I do not modify any of the group policy settings.
You’re missing quite a lot of updates.
Lukas, please understand I’m not trying to argue. From what I see in “update” it states I am current.
