Microsoft may soon allow IT admins to uninstall Copilot

If this policy is enabled, the Microsoft Copilot app will be uninstalled, once. Users can still re-install if they choose to. This policy is available on Enterprise, Pro, and EDU SKUs.

Home users still getting the fuzzy end of the lollipop but, the Pro version is readily available to most users. Will be nice to just enable a policy to have this removed.

I’m willing to bet running other scripts other users make will strip it out better considering what people want is not even code of Co Pilot on their PC.

Sure. I think this makes it easier to manage for the people who like to set it and forget it type options. Especially if your managing the policy for multiple machines (as this is what it is seemingly aimed at).

True. Still sad to see the state of affairs with them. I’m almost cheering on because we’re in the bottom half so might as well root for more enshittification if that’s what breaks people to move to other OSs. I don’t want Linux to win here necessarily, just want MSFT to lose even if it means Mac wins.

Eh - I’m just jaded. Windows is such a shit piece of tech.

Yeah I haven’t reach that point

Agree. I am honestly surprised they are adding this option. Must of been a lot of pushback regarding copilot from the enterprise crowd.

Yeah no shit. Shocking if MSFT thought companies are going to be okay with this privacy invasive tech on their work and confidential company computers. They really don’t care anymore even with this news. They gotta do something so they are doing soemthing.

I do wonder if privacy is the crux of the issue with copilot when it comes to enterprise. Seems reasonable enough but part of me thinks the oppurtunity for copilot to make their employees less productive via hallucinations or flat out bad advice may have contributed.

I meant what I said more for Windows in general. The issue with Copilot is the non consensual shoving of it down people’s throat more than anything. Plus, MSFT mandating to be signed into literally everything.
