Microsoft backing down on AI

I love how this is basically Microsoft just promising to bring back basic features which were present in Windows 10 but absent from Windows 11, and pinky promising to not shove quite as much breaking changes and AI into core programs like snipping tool and notepad.
By all means this sounds like good news and I do think it is important to give credit where it is due, but:

If you have to trick customers into using your product, that product probably isn’t worth using.

Let’s just say I’ll believe it when I see it. Admittedly, I would probably be more excited by this if I was still on windows. It would be nice to not have to deal with quite so much AI bloat when providing tech support for family though.

It’s absolutely humiliating that Microsoft is forced to go back and fix this mess after they managed to cede both its reputation for PC gaming to Linux/SteamOS and its status as a reliable provider of cheap laptops to Apple. A true master class in shitting the bed.

It will definitely never go back to the point where this isn’t practically mandatory.
