Michael Bazzell ebooks

The lastest entry in MB’s blog states that the Extreme Privacy ebooks are soon not going to be for sale. They are just going to sell the two 500+ books by the end of the year.
They promise to continue to update the smaller ebooks.

His books are awful so good news as far as I’m concerned.

I took a look at his book and it was just a series of step-by-steps that could have easily just referenced a webpage. Tech is constantly evolving and some of the content was just outdated. A lot of filler.

Not to mention his recommendations on tech are generally not great. Suggesting Ubuntu as the best distro while not considering the security risks associated with Linux in general.

I focused on his IRL tips of which there were only a few I found useful.

His ebooks come with updates, usually once a month.

In his ebooks he recommends PopOS, not Ubuntu. Could it be you read an outdated copy?

PopOS is still not a good recommendation.

What is your suggestion?

openSUSE Aeon is my go-to recommendation, the second one would be Fedora Silverblue.

As for traditional distributions, Fedora Workstation and openSUSE Tumbleweed are good.

interesting everyone’s comments. I’m a bit panicked, if i should buy the monthly PDFs that am interested in or not. Am a bit poor atm. I have the linux one. If anyone wants to do swapsies dm me. I like having a second source of info, privacy guides being the other one.

According to the blog, the smaller ebooks will be available until January. They will be removed once the 11th edition of OSINT is released.

The large Extreme Privacy book costs $40 and the smaller books are $20. Maybe buying the larger book, when you can afford it, is the more cost effective way?

I wouldn’t be surprised if the smaller books stopped being updated, eventually.

PrivSec is a good source.

I’ll save everyone some time. Privsec hasn’t been regulary updated since 2022, not all categories and less effort, and it’s clear that something in there needs a new look in light of progress.

Now I will explain to you clearly, I have opened all the links of tags and topics on this site. If you think that my information is not correct and the site is regularly updated, let’s discuss it.

Because as far as I understand you are sure that this resource is regularly updated and it is full of articles fresher than 2022.
Let’s figure it out and make up our minds.

Because I want to learn something new today, if I can do it here.
