Looking for guidance on Riseup invite –for privacy focused use

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to get an account on Riseup.net for personal, privacy-focused communication. I’ve been working to move away from mainstream, surveillance-based email services and need a provider that better aligns with my values around autonomy and digital rights.

I understand Riseup is intended for serious and respectful use, and I fully support its mission. I don’t currently know anyone with an invite, so I’m reaching out here in hopes of learning how others have navigated this process — or if someone might be willing to connect and talk.

I’m not asking for a code outright — just open to guidance or a possible conversation. Appreciate any thoughts, and thank you to the PrivacyGuides community for helping people take back control of their digital lives.

Stay safe,
LaVapeDeBlud

Hey! Welcome to our forum.

First off, Riseup is not meant to be used as a privacy-conscious email provider for regular use. Unless you are a journalist or activist that is seeking a safe work-related email address, you will only encounter usability issues associated with smaller nonprofit providers like Riseup that lack the resources of a company. If you need request an invite code online, most likely, you are not the type of person to utilize Riseup.

If this threat model applies to you, I recommend reaching out to your network of journalists or activists for an invite code. Otherwise, we recommend established providers such as Proton and Tuta for daily use.

Please refer to this previous topic on the subject for more details.
