Logseq - Note Taking App 2025 Re-Visit

Is someone using Logseq nowadays?

I checked it back in 2023, it seems that they did improved quite a lot.

To start they are multiplatform now: Logseq: A privacy-first, open-source knowledge base

They are Org Mode “compatible” which is the offline notes taking recommended tool by PG:

Of course, they are open source, but they aren’t e2ee, since is primarily a offline tool it makes sense, nevertheless I think that a combo of Cryptomator + Syncthing or self hosted platform like Nexcloud can get you there. Anyone tried this?

Their Linux application isn’t Electron like Standard Notes which is my nitpick with them.

Well, that is it, this is not a recommendation I’m actually interested about the usability in 2025, almost 2026 (oh, my god!).

I don’t know how logseq distributes their software, but having an actual app instead of an electron app usually is a plus for me since electron apps often use outdated chromium versions under the hood

Yes, my bad, not a native English speaker and my brain get scrambled some times. I think it isn’t clear, yes, Standard Notes application is deployed using Electron and therefore a negative aspect.

Ah I get it. I’m not a native english speaker, too and given that info I guess one could read your initial statement both ways.

They are rebuilding the code base to move from markdown format to db format. Been going on for some time. Not sure if they will still be org mode compatible at that time!
Else standalone its nice, but right now kinda in maintenance mode until the code base refactor!

Oh! That feels a little bit of letting down. I see the planned features in their website and that is probably why they are doing the updates. If they can keep the markdown and org mode compatible on the surface somehow, that may still be a good transition with the added planned features.
