KO: If you ran this "debloater," reinstall your system immediately

This is why I don’t use, or encourage the use of, Windows debloating scripts. Sure there may be a few that are somewhat trustworthy, but the rest are either malicious, or will break your system.

This Chris Titus Ultimate Windows Tool is probably the only one I would actually recommend (open source, many contributors, long history, development velocity). Most of these “speed up your PC” tools are snake oil

Yeah, same here, though even the CTT Windows Utility does some things I’m not so fond of[1]

  1. mostly just orividing toggles that will break things, without clear warning ↩︎

Its a good reminder that running scripts or programs on your computer while having no clue what they actually do is a risk.

Video was good but a bit odd. The guy advertising his own debloating script in the middle of the video felt a bit tone deaf.

Haven’t watched it but the other guy did make a response video…

Yeah, I agree him advertising his own script felt weird/forced.

You shouldn’t use any optimizers like that at all until you’ve personally checked every single line of code. Either that, or you need to write your own scripts.
Even that CTT garbage recommended above was secretly breaking system functionality that had absolutely nothing to do with the feature being toggled.

Alright, they fixed it in the update. But who’s going to revert the settings that were already applied before?
