On sites such as voteref.com it is fairly easy to find out the full name of a person, where they live, how old they are and what party they are affiliated with. Is it possible to scrub yourself from sites such as these, or scrub them from public records? It seems at first glance the only way to do this is if you are a victim of domestic violence, which is certainly better than nothing.
From their privacy policy…
It feels a bit in poor taste but, I typically give some sort of reason so they are more inclined to remove me. I usually say I am the victim of stalking which typically works.
Technically not wrong. You just did not specify the stalking is mostly done by corporations and automated/algorithmic. If an ex was as invested in knowing everything about you as Google or Meta or Tesla, it would definitely be considered stalking (Mostly joking here, but also kind of serious).
https://voterrecords.com/ is another one
My copy of Hiding from the Internet by Michael Bazzell says that you can try contacting the county clerk and telling them you would like them to add your voter registration info to the “address confidentiality option.” If your request is denied, you can request an address change and put a PO box instead if you have one. This would ideally stop the data from leaking at the source. I think I recall attempting this a few years back, but didn’t have a lot of success. Certainly worth a try.
