Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection "Fix major site issues" option

I was setting up Firefox on a laptop and looking at the recommendations ( Privacy Respecting Web Browsers for PC and Mac - Privacy Guides ) and noticed that while Strict Enhanced Tracking Protection is recommended, there is no mention of the “Fix major site issues (recommended)” and “Fix minor site issues” checkmarks that Firefox settings offer. Should I be leaving both of these on? I could not find any posts or discussions about these. (I assume I just looked in the wrong place)

If you want to have protections automatically disabled for sites that are known to not work with ETP, then use Fix major site issues (recommended), otherwise I would leave it off and do it manually.

I was suprised because I never even knew the option existed and never had it on on my main PC. Have never noticed any issues either so maybe whatever ETP breaks is just not something I use, guess I will keep it off.

That option has been introduced very recently, PG page is not up to date.

Arkenfox has both the fixes for major and minor sites enabled by default since v144, but I feel like this can come down to personal preference. Honestly don’t know what the recommendation should be for this.

If you have this enabled, some protections might be pulled back if a site is known to break with ETP Strict, If you don’t mind some sites potentially breaking, you can disable it and be confident you get the same protection on all sites.

Just a personal perspective but I not only have both boxes unticked, but RFP enabled as well and I can’t remember the last time a site didn’t work. The only thing that does tend to break sites from time to time is noscript, but it’s easy enough to fix and I like what it does too much to remove the friction.
