Encrypted 7zip file vs Cryptomator

When using a password manager or aegis. As well any other services that allow users to export recovery codes, It is often suggested to back these up locally and encrypted.

However, challenges can arise when backing up from multiple devices such as an mobile and computer.

So what system do people use to backup password manager exports, 2fa seeds and all those kind of info that if a hard drive gets stolen, you don’t want to fall into the wrong hands.

Using an encrypted 7zip file is more portable as it can be opened with the correct password in a variety of apps and programs but I’m sure that it will only protect against prying eyes and also the filenames and info about the files is still visible.

Cryptomator is a good option as its recommended here but a Cryptomator vault be can only be opened by Cryptomator software such as the desktop tool or app.

What are peoples thoughts on between the 2 options?

Just use the encrypted json file option when exporting, no need to encrypt with third party software.
