Elon Musk’s xAI Published Hundreds Of Thousands Of Grok Chatbot Conversations

Archived, in case its paywalled: https://archive.ph/tBTjA

Seems like Elon messed up by making the shared links crawlable.

Genuine question, how and why are people ‘accidentally’ clicking the share button? Are people just out here clicking random buttons not knowing why they’re doing that or for what?

Thought I’d share since its semi-related to Musk (but not really). Your post was the only thing I saw here slightly similar to be slightly critical. I clarify in a couple responses, I just sort of used it as a spring board for far larger AI concerns:

Stumbled in here. I think you may have misunderstood this to be how the share links work at the user level. If so, that wasn’t really the issue. Its related to how advanced data collection/manipulation/surveillance tools that allow legal theft and targeting of unique or threatening ideas with precision across society, for monetary gains/agendas…or any other reason. Or more simply it was about AI.

Basically he F’d up on how share links were being managed as data that could be scraped by other AI tools (i.e. google). So random BS chats people did, ended up in search engines or in other data collection. If you aren’t aware of how prevalent this is happening for every single thing you do over tech now (even your phone key strokes are typically defaulted as part of data collection), and any interest to spend 5-10 mins reading some of where we are on it, check this out to just get a bit of the big picture for where it is, and where its almost certainly going:

Yeah I understand it better now, thank you. I remember something similar happened with the meta ai share button publishing everyone’s chats to a social feed a few months back.

Imagine using such a keyboard instead of a FOSS on
