Client or web based email acces

Is it more secure to use a web based email access or us a email client. My threat model involves my ex boyfriend reading my emails and dont no how to password protect Thunderbird.

Presumably your computer should be encrypted with a password and your email account would be password protected, so there would be no reason why you would need to password protect Thunderbird…

In my opinion, both options are essentially equally secure

Thank you for the reply. I think he hacked my windows password with bash bunny and somehow got access. For now ill just use the web for email until i get him i get things worked out

Thanks again

I personally like thunderbird, but you should do some config stuff depnding on your needs

Id go for webclient only and use Mullvad or Tor Browser and you need a hardware based 2FA like Yubikey for a threat model like an ex, assuming said ex has no local access.

Maybe get an enforcable restraining order? I dont know how that works though.

Um, you can revoke TB’s email access if you go to your login to the web client.

Also, you can set a master password for thunderbird. You can also use portable version of browser / TB and encrypt your flash drive.
