Are You Free Tomorrow? — Weird Text From an Unknown Number

My friend got a text from a number he doesn’t recognize. It just said, “Are you free tomorrow?”

He doesn’t know who the person is, and there wasn’t any other explanation.

Would you reply and ask who it is, or just ignore the message? Could this be some kind of scam, or am I overthinking it?

Has anyone else received a random text like this?

Yes to overthinking :slightly_smiling_face:
Delete and ignore. If they msg again: block.

This is a super common scam number tactic. I get them a lot.

Fortunately for me, I can easily identify them as fake texts since no real person would ever want to make plans with me.

This is an everyday occurrence, and it proliferates the longer you hold onto your one phone number that you use everywhere. The world we live in has changed, having one phone number and one email address for everything is what the horse and cart is to cars, it’s a construct that made sense in the 1900s but fails to keep up with our modern infinitely connected and digitised world where even people’s fridges want your google login…

There is a better way. There are plenty of options out there, so do you’re own research but if you are looking for a starting point, feel free to check us out - MySudo.
