Any plans for Privacy Guides to self-host GitLab?

Are there any plans for Privacy Guides to self-host GitLab in the future?

GitHub shadowbans people who use email aliases and/or VPNs or Tor. Also, the network effect of GitHub is very strong, and I don’t think that PG should contribute to that.

If the network effect of iMessage, Facetime, WhatsApp, etc. is a problem, then the network effect of GitHub is also a problem.

They have multiple mirrors and selfhost Gitea.

I am guessing Github is preferred as more people know it more than Gitlab or other alternatives for any contributions they may be willing or able to make.

Either way, it is meant to open source things - doesn’t quite matter (unless you have highly specific rationales) where it is hosted.

Ah, beat me again.

But everything pretty much happens on GitHub.

We would never switch to GitLab in any case.

We could consider Forgejo when federation is functional.
