AnonAddy vs. SimpleLogin

Adguard Mail is available for ~$20/yr. I didn’t subscribe though, got the 50 alias special offer and I mainly use Simplelogin because of the perpetual student discount.

I think you mean €36/year.

I just checked. You scared me for a second.

The one alias per site also applies when you use your own custom domains.

Users have posted about getting warnings even when they use their own domains. You can check out these posts on reddit:

  1. SimpleLogin Users Can Be Banned by Anyone
  2. Warning about bulk signups even when using my own URL
  3. Simplelogin vs Cloudflare Email routing (Check the comment section)

The reason behind this is when you connect your domain to SimpleLogin, you’re using their server (Imagine your domain is a name tag, SimpleLogin is a mailbox center, you put your name tag on one of SimpleLogin’s mailboxes, using their service to receive mail). And SimpleLogin/Proton is overly cautious about their server being flagged as spammer or abuser by other providers. As a result, even if you use your own domains, you’re still restricted.

You know what’s funny? Based on the various conversations we’ve had about what bulk really means, and the fact that Proton Pass & Simple Login are separate products, we should be allowed to have many aliases for the same website for 2 reasons.

  1. As long as the pace of registration is slow, it’s not bulk.
  2. Proton Pass aliases and SL aliases belong to two separate services.

At the very least, if I create 2 aliases for Twitter, but one uses an SL domain and the other a Proton Pass domain, it should be allowed, because they’re not from the same service.

Proton can’t have it both ways. But I bet they will insist on it.

Feels like more of a reason to stick with Addy.io even though I also pay for Proton Unlimited.
