In short, for me, removing features that were once free, or removing them from a tier you already paid for is enshittification because you are deliberately making a product worse to compel users to upgrade.
Similarly, not allowing users to pay for multiple stand-alone services that a company offers just to pressure them to upgrade to the highest paid tier is also enshittification. Because when users are paying for 2 products instead of one, you are still getting their money. But because you want more, you force them between two choice they don’t want: an expensive one, or one that offers a subpar experience.
