Windows 11 to add an AI agent that runs in background with access to personal

sigh more AI rubbish that no doubt won’t be private and now requires auditing.

I think at this point Microsoft is trying to shove copilot into everything to please investors and other lords which will make money from this.

good thing my pc comes with linux subsystem for windows

lol your link to the article blocks access via Tor of course.

Will we be able to uninstall this AI Agent feature from Windows 11in a way similar to how Copilot can be uninstalled by running the code from privacy.sexy?

Unfortunately user’s will and ability to control the underlying Windows OS can be overridden anytime by MSFT via a drive-by Windows Update. They’ve never really respected our choices.

The feature is still an experimental beta feature. It appears to be off by default currently.

Just going to add some quotes as this will inevitably be judged just by the title with few users actually reading the article.

This turns on “Agent Workspace,” but it doesn’t work right now, and if you’re wondering, it’s only available to Windows Insiders in the Dev or Beta Channel.

This feature is completely optional and is never turned on by default.

When Windows spins up this extra workspace, it gives it limited access (like specific folders such as Documents or Desktop) and keeps its actions isolated and auditable.

  • The agent still has security isolation
  • Supports parallel execution
  • and gives you control… as you can allow the Agent to access your personal folders even when it’s running in a separate isolated instance. Or you can see the logs.

When you turn on the feature, you’re giving agents access to apps and even local folders, such as Desktop, Music, Pictures, and Videos.

*emphasis in these quotes is from the article, not my own.

If it runs in the background, that means most people won’t notice this.

Indeed. I am sure Microsoft is watching everything from the start anyway. The bigger problem is people don’t care. At least most of them. We will see how everything goes.
