Hi everyone,
I’ve noticed that when posts are edited on this forum there doesn’t appear to be a way to view the edit history. Afaik this forum uses Discourse and on most Discourse forums edited posts show a pencil icon or “edited” indicator that you can click to see previous versions and what changes were made. If I click on that pencil here however nothing happens.
Is there a specific reason why this feature is disabled here? Having visible edit history helps with:
- Transparency in discussions
- Understanding context when posts are significantly changed after replies
- Accountability in debates or sensitive topics
- Preventing confusion when content is altered
I understand there might be privacy concerns or other reasons for keeping it off, but I’m curious about the rationale. Could moderators or admins share some insight into this decision?
I’ve basically been following #32957 on here and one person started sending links to archive today to prove what the other person said beforehand as it made them “look like a maniac” in their own words. Personally I’m a strong fan of being able to see the message history like you can on Signal. I never really thought about this until just know but sometimes I already had a feeling that edits on here were not small edits but major things.
